Another pretty good night of racing, Ron and Michelle gave us a course just southeast of the club due to the wind coming out of the west. When the winds weren't gusting it was coming in around 6 kts but the gusts were around 10 and boats could make up some serious ground pretty quickly. And that is what is so challenging with sailing sometimes(all the time?) the constant changing of the wind and even on a short course like we mostly sail on. A couple times heading downwind we were doing all right but a boat just 3 feet a way made big gains of multiple boat lengths in matter of seconds. Doh!
There were big shifts early on but then mellowed toward the end of the evening. Lots of consistency for Glen once he got past the first race, and the Kersh's did a swell job with 3 bullets, Allan and Patty got the last bullet beating Glen to the finish line, and it was up and down with the other boats. Allan and Patty are our committee this week with Jeff and I finishing off the series the following week in September.
