Timmy and I went down to MBYC, Oct 11-12, and raced in Fleet 7’s Fall Invitational. We raced B-fleet (the SI’s let you designate the your fleet) and got a 1st place in our Fleet. 10630703 10203852875816317 4446892187478998978 o

It was two days of great racing on windward – leeward courses. Everyone on the water knew what they were doing – from the competition to the R/C. Getting to MBYC and getting the boat on the hoist and in the water was a piece of cake and everyone was accommodating. MBYC’s burgers and chili for the racers were also a welcome treat!  MBYC is a beautiful bay venue with all small boats. You can walk the boat yard and see everything from Moth’s and I-14’s to Lightenings, Stars, Thistles and Snipes!
Tim and I found the shifty bay challenging. Sometimes playing each shift payed off for us…sometimes for the other guy! Timmy’s fairly brutal when tacking on top of starboard boats and those tacks have to be perfect! But we never fouled anyone or were protested. All-in-all it seemed like at least a couple dozen tacks on each weather leg – and he insisted on Roll Tacks – even in some major tacking duals! The Kid knows his stuff!
Tons of fun!!
Be sure an put at least one travel trip on you agenda for the year. Also – Lido Nationals are at MBYC this year – plan ahead! Here in Oceanside – Fleet 21 has our Turkey Day Regatta – Sunday, Nov 16 Be there or be Square!
