Super Bowl Regatta 2017
To say the Super bowl Regatta hosted by Santa Monica Windjammer YC is a "nice little regatta" would be quite an understatement. This regatta has grown to over 60 boats sailing on three separate courses, bay and ocean. A lot of management power was needed to pull this regatta together and all was handled beautifully by Regatta Chair Steve Potter and his team.
Light shifty Santa Ana winds provided the racers with warm conditions, but played havoc on inside PRO Steve Kurtz of ABYC, who had to moved the course up the bay after the first race and saw 90 degree wind shifts on the start line through the day. At the end of the day the Lido 14's sailed four races with no throw outs.
This regatta is famous for the raffle and good food as you wait for trophies. This year a new Opti sail was won by a pretty happy Opti Junior. This regatta is always a great way to kick off the sailing year.
